Extract RAR files for free on Windows 7 and Mac OS X

Have you ever downloaded a single file to find it has an extension. Rar? There are many applications on Windows to open the file. RAR, and while the default choice is WinRAR by the developers of the RAR file format, it’s not free. If you need to create the file, it is your best bet, but if you just extract them, you’ll want to use free and open source application 7-Zip.

For Windows
Once you have downloaded and installed 7 – Zip from http://7-zip.org/ site, you may have to click on any file. RAR and easy option to extract the files from the menu. Note that if you have a multi-part set. RAR files, you will click on the file first.
You can also view the contents of the archive file by selecting the store open from the context menu or by double clicking on the file.
For Mac OSX
Mac OSX does not have many options as on the Windows platform and less common, but there are still a few choices, like the free app “The Unarchiver”, which has great support Great for file multi-part archive. How to extract archives on a Mac is just double-click the file. The Unarchiver will create a folder with the same name as the archive and extract its contents into the folder.
