PicsIn Viewer: Comprehensive Online & Local Image Gallery For Android

PicsIn is a popular photo-sharing and editing app for Android that, apart from letting users share their most memorable images on its own dedicated online service, extends the photo-sharing support across multiple social networks and photo-sharing services. To enhance its reputation as a truly photo-sharing marvel in the Android Market, the company has recently launched PicsIn Viewer (in beta) – a free Android app that, apart from supporting the aforementioned photo-sharing features, lets you import and export all your various photos that are either stored on your SD card or on various online services that, as of now, include Facebook, Flickr, Picasa, Google Images as well as Dropbox. In addition, you can also view all images that are being shared on these services publicly.

In a nutshell, PicsIn is a comprehensive, unified photo repository that not only gathers all your shared images at a single platform but also provides you access to an unending stream of online images shared by people from all corners of the world.

Using the app, you can share any image of your liking across multiple online platforms as well as download all your shared images from aforementioned resources. The app’s interface might not be all that aesthetically appealing but it certainly is efficient. The homescreen carries separate tabs for your locally stored images and your online services. Needless to say, in order to fetch images from your preferred online service(s), you must provide the app with login credentials for each.

Apart from displaying all your shared and popular images from PicsIn, Flickr, Picasa and Google Images, PicsIn Viewer also lets you search for images via keywords.

The Facebook tab displays images from your albums, friends, as well as the latest ones from your News Feed. The Dropbox section shows all your entire Dropbox folder. Just pick a subfolder from your Dropbox account that contains images to start viewing and sharing them. Similarly, you may browse and open photos from any supported service that you use.

PicsIn Viewer lets you download each image to your SD card, set it as wallpaper and/or share it over the web. In addition, you may view each image in full-screen, swipe on screen to switch between images and use the on-screen controls to zoom in/out of an image, rotate it and check its brief details. Each downloaded image can be saved as a JPEG or PNG file with a filename of your choice and can be found under the /sdcard/PicsIn folder on your device.

Once image editing capabilities (like the ones in the PicsIn photo editor – filters, borders, effects et al) are added to PicsIn Viewer, it would certainly emerge as a strong contender for your Android’s default image management app.

PicsIn Viewer is now available in the Android Market. Grab the app from the Market link or via QR code provided below.
