Tech tips: How to disable access to the Registry on Windows 7

Sometimes you want to block registry files to avoid an unwanted intrusion or interference on the registry file (see how to Fix Registry Errors), disable access to registry is the best way to secure your registry files. By follow these steps below you can disable access to registry on Windows 7:

Step 1: Go to Start Menu and search gpedit.msc then Enter

Step 2: At Local Group Policy Editor window you find service Prevent access to registry editing tools as the picture below, then right click and choose Edit

Step 3: At the Prevent access to registry editing tools window, choose Enabled (as the picture below) then click OK.

Now open your registry to see the result.
