Tech tips: What is included when search indexed locations?

Posted In Windows - By Techtiplib on Monday, October 1st, 2012 With No Comments »

When you search an indexed location, both file names and contents are searched. To search only by file name, follow these steps:

  1. Open File Explorer by swiping in from the right edge of the screen, tapping Search (or if you’re using a mouse, pointing to the upper-right corner of the screen, moving the mouse pointer down, and then clicking Search), entering File Explorer in the search box, tapping or clicking Apps, and then tapping or clicking File Explorer.
  2. Tap or click the search box.
  3. Tap or click the Search Tools tab.
  4. Tap or click Other properties, choose Name, and then enter your search term in the search box.
