1. Akismet

I am sure that you known this plugin – a filter to defense spam in WordPress blog. Akismet is extremely intelligent in detecting spam messages were sent by the tools, software,… to build backlinks. It automatically put the spam message into the trash of WordPress and not displayed on the posts. Therefore, administrators can turn off comment moderation without worry of anything.

In addition to blocking comment spam and bad links, Akismet also displays a statistics page that you can see more details about the number of spam comments blocked, accuracy, date ..

Akismet plugin is available in the WordPress installation package, you can go to Plugins to activate this plugin. But to use, you need to have the code API Key , visit http://akismet.com/wordpress/ for registration and API Key will be sent to your email.

3. Gasp – Growmap Anti-spambot plugin

This plugin will add a client side generated checkbox to your comment form asking users to confirm that they are not a spammer. It is a lot less trouble to click a box than it is to enter a captcha and because the box is genereated via client side javascript that bots cannot see, it should stop 99% of all automated spam bots.

A check is made that the checkbox has been checked before the comment is submitted so there’s no chance that a comment will be lost if it’s being submitted by legitimate human user.
