Posted In MS office, Products Review - By Techtiplib on Tuesday, February 12th, 2013 With No Comments »

MS Outlook, a prominent email client by Microsoft is being used as primary emailing system, especially in enterprises. Despite great features, you may come across various error messages, one of them is as follows:

“The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, start Outlook again.”

The error occurs:

  1. When you read an email that is newly landed in the box.
  2. When a contact is added or deleted.
  3. When a calendar item is added or deleted.

Root Cause of the Error

The aforementioned error occurs due to an internal issue in messaging interface of Outlook. It also indicates that PST has become corrupt due to over sizing or is not able to be read properly.

Resolution

In order to fix the error, you need to restart the MS Outlook. If the problem has not been recurred, it was due to messaging interface problem and hence is automatically resolved. However, if the error crops up due to PST corruption, it won’t be resolved through restarting the application.

In order to deal with PST corruption, Microsoft provides an inbuilt utility named ‘Inbox Repair Tool’. The utility performs scanning of the corrupt PST file, extracts its data, builds a new PST on your computer and transfer the data in the new PST. Below is the whole process:

  1. Open MS Outlook
  2. Select ‘File’, Click ‘New’ and click on ‘Outlook Data File’
  3. In the appeared ‘New Outlook Data File’ dialog, select the option as required, and click ‘OK’.
  4. In the displayed dialog box ‘Create or Open Outlook Data File’, type a name that you want to give to the new PST.
  5. A dialog box  ‘Create Microsoft Personal Folders’ will appear, type the name of the folder to be displayed in MS Outlook. You can also apply password if desired.
  6. Click ‘OK’
  7. You will find the personal folder located in the left side bar in MS Outlook. The tree also contains old personal folder
  8. Select all the items of old personal folder
  9. Click on ‘Edit’, select ‘Move to Folder’ and select the new personal folder. Click ‘OK’

However, in case of PST corruption, it is great to use an efficient  PST recovery software program for more accuracy. Such application offers commendable features and accomplish the task efficiently in less time. Moreover, purchasing the software is all easy; just place an order online and get it.
