Farmville of course is the product of Zynga, one of the most successful and well know Facebook games developers on the market. However, there are new developers that are starting to challenge Zynga’s dominance over this ever growing market.

If you’ve noticed a reduction in the number of Farmville 2 requests from your Facebook friends then you must surely have also noticed a dramatic increase in the number of status posts and requests related to Candy Crush Saga.
This highly addictive Facebook game is not the product of Zynga. Instead, Candy Crush Saga is the product of rival Facebook games company King.com. This has certainly turned a few heads in the social media games industry, and it has give Zynga’s other competitors a glimmer of hope that they too can rival the top dog of social media gaming.

This is another of Zynga’s zingers that has continued to stay in the top five Facebook games. The game is still attracting new players, and although poker isn’t for everyone it is certainly proving to be a big success with poker loving players.
Words With Friends
Once again Zynga demonstrates its ability to grab a huge number of players in a completely different genre of game. Although this game is primarily based on Scrabble it does seem that some of the most popular mobile games are simple word games. This has had a knock on effect to the type of games that are being played on Facebook, and Words with Friends has come out trumps in the battle for top word based game on Facebook.
However, this could quickly change, and if you like word games then stay tuned because you could see a lot more of them transferring from Windows, iOS and Android apps onto the Facebook gaming platform.
Bejewelled Blitz
It wasn’t that long ago when Bejewelled Blitz seemed like the most unstoppable game on Facebook, but these days it’s slowly dropping down the ranks, giving way to newer games. However, this was another highly successful Facebook game that didn’t belong to Zynga.
The success of this EA PopCap produced game has encouraged smaller developers to launch and promote their own Facebook games to rival Zynga’s dominance on the market.
Angry Birds Friends
Despite Rovio’s utter dominance on mobile devices it seems to be struggling to make it to the top of the Facebook games chart. With that said, each month it does seem to acquire new fans and players, and each month it solely rises to the top of the chart.
Perhaps Angry Birds Friends is not getting enough publicity to challenge the likes of Farmville. With a little more promotion and increased awareness this game could still go viral on the Facebook platform.
