How to transfer data from Google Reader to Digg Reader

Google Reader service has closed, but you still have time to transfer critical data to alternative news reader! Google Reader has been closed from July 1st. However, it provides the deadline remains to 15/7 for user to export data via Google Takeout. The following article I show you how Google Reader export data and transfer them to Digg Reader.

Export the data through Google Takeout

Step 1: Access your account http://www.google.com/takeout/?pli=1#custom:reader. Google Takeout will collect number of files and size of your data.

Step 2: Select your data which you want to export, then click Download button. The data will be compress in a ZIP file!

Step 3: Unzip the ZIP file you will see some JavaScript (JSON) files and a “subscription.xml” file. This XML file included list of websites which you had followed at Google Reader.

Transfer your data to Digg Reader

Step 1: Access this page http://digg.com/settings, find Digg Reader section and hit “Upload” button.

Step 2: Click to “Upload your data” to upload your ZIP file

Step 3: When the uploading finish, you will see all your data in Saved folder
