To back up the data on our hard drive is the most secure way to prevent data losing. Though we have anti-virus software and firewall to guard our Windows system, but the data could still be damaged in some cases such as hardware failure and malware attack. If we back up the data first, then there’s nothing to worry about even the worst happens. Today we received the latest version of AOMEI Backupper -a specialized Windows backup freeware. Could this utility be a real helper for us to perform the backup task? Let’s go have a look.

User Interface

Almost everyone in our department gives a thumb up to AOMEI Backupper’s well-designed and easy-to-follow user interface. It’s quite suitable to the users who don’t have much in-depth IT knowledge. Using dark blue as the color of the background makes the first impression of AOMEI Backupper relaxing and refreshing. The layout is clear and straightforward with main functions listed on the left side. While left the middle pane to show detailed information of each option in the operation. Moreover, graphs are always available throughout the whole operation to provide the specifications of the disk/partitions in a direct way.

Main Features

As an extremely easy-to-use Windows backup utility, AOMEI Backupper includes only three main functions: backup, restore and clone. A small number in functions does not mean AOMEI Backupper is inadequate. In fact, for most light users who merely want to make a backup, less functions give them a more efficient solution.

For the backup function, our users are allowed to backup the system, partitions or even a whole disk to the local hard drive or an external storage device including NAS. Before backup, we can add a password for the backup image, select the compression level in order to fit the remaining storage space in our devices. The latest version 1.5 enables us to set a schedule for the program to perform the backup periodically. About the supported format, AOMEI Backupper now perfectly supports GPT disk style and UEFI boot.

As for the restore function, there is not much to say. We can restore partition/system/disk without hurdles. AOMEI Backupper has proved itself stable and reliable in our test. Besides, in version 1.5, we can restore from NAS devices. It’s very helpful to small business users.

The clone function can be considered as a bonus for the users who have purchased a new hard drive recently. This tool allows us to copy partitions or a whole hard drive to the new one. Please note that to clone one disk to another, AOMEI Backupper will wipe out the data on the destination disk directly.
