Mobile phones have evolved so much and so quickly, that things that were once considered impossible, or at least highly unlikely, came to life earlier than anyone might have expected. Even though simple things such as calculators and calendars were present in earlier generation of phones, the apparition of smartphones completely revolutionized the capabilities of mobile phones. One of the fields that benefited the most from this quick technological evolution is gaming.

When it comes to gaming, Android is the most popular platform, and while there are endless games, each with their own ups and down, one genre has managed to step out – adventure games. Here are the top 5 adventure games for Android that you should totally try.

Android is the most popular platform, and while there are endless games, each with their own ups and down, one genre has managed to step out – adventure games. Here are the top 5 adventure games for Android that you should totally try.

Broken Sword

This game sends you straight to Paris, where George Stobbart, your character, is enjoying a cup of coffee in a peaceful bistro. The peace and quiet doesn’t last long, though, as soon enough the place gets blown up by a bomb that was dropped off by an assassin dressed as a clown. Your job is to embark on a quest and find out who wanted to destroy the coffee shop, and why, piecing together pieces and clues. The game will take you all the way across Europe and straight into the Middle East as well.

If you want a better experience, consider giving Broken Sword: Director’s Cut a try, as the game comes with some extra scenes and bits that will make the story even more interesting, and once you finish the game, Broken Sword 2: The Smoking Mirror is waiting for you.

Tiny Thief

Tiny Thief is the type of game that will surprise you, because if there is a game where there’s more than it meets the eye at a first sight, Tiny Thief is definitely it. Despite its simplistic looks, the game comes with some very interesting riddles that will seriously put your brain to work. You will have to collect lots of items and put everything together to solve various mysteries. What makes it attractive is that the levels are quite short, allowing you to play the game even when you only have a few minutes to kill, yet interesting enough to keep you hooked.

Machinarium

This fascinating world of robots is sure to capture you right from the first glimpse, both because of the interesting plot and the hand-drawn backgrounds. These small adorable robots are very similar to us humans, with one main exception – they can’t talk, meaning that you will have to figure out what they want by looking after clues in their body language or patterns, and come with an ingenious way to get the task done.

Simon the Sorcerer

You may remember this title from back in the days when Amiga PCs ruled the world. Now available on Android phones, Simon the Sorcerer puts you into the shoes of Simon, a teenager that gets sucked into a fantastic world populated with wizards, trolls and other fairy tale creatures. What makes this game really attractive, besides is gameplay, and is the humor and sarcasm it packs in.

The Silent Age

The Silent Age is a game with a very interesting plot – you’re Joe, a janitor, with a normal life, all that until one day when you meet a character that will give you a time machine and the task of saving the world from doom. You will have to jump from the present, which is the year of 1972, in the future, to save the world from a devastating apocalypse that will doom the Earth in 2012. Even with the ability to jump through time, your mission won’t be easy, so be ready for a serious dose of adventure, as saving the world is never as simple as it seems.
