Posted In OS X, Utilities - By Techtiplib on Saturday, November 1st, 2014 With No Comments »

Apple has mentioned the Continuity feature when introduced the iOS 8 and Yosemite OS X10.10, this is extremely convenient feature that helps you to work through the Apply devices: Macs, iPhones, iPads. But not any Macs can also use Yosemite Continuity, it only supports for the Macs from early 2011 to later and for the iPhone 5 or later, iPad (4th generation), iPad Air, iPad mini, iPad Mini with Retina display, and iPod touch (5th generation). However, the good news for you is that you can bypass this limit easily by Continuity Activation Tool, and now you are ready for Handoff Application, Instant Hotspot, Airdrop on your Mac device.

Continuity Activation Tool makes the necessary changes to enable Yosemite Continuity on compatible hardware. The Continuity features activated by this tool include Application Handoff, Instant Hotspot, and Airdrop iOS<->OSX.

Features of Continuity Activation Tool – bring Yosemite Continuity feature to old Apple’s devices:

  • Activate Continuity: Does a Continuity compatibility check, backups the original Systems kexts, disables a Mac-model blacklist in the Bluetooth kext, whitelists the Mac board-id in the Wi-Fi kext.
  • System Diagnostic: Produces a report of the current system parameters influencing Continuity.

Warning:

  • You should exercise caution when using the Continuity Activation Tool, as it moves around low level files and there’s a possibility it could cause problems. Using this tool is at your own risk.
  • You should backup your system and data before attempting to install the tool.
  • The tool disables OS security features in order to work. Enabling Continuity on Yosemite will put you at risk to get the “grey stop sign” at boot-time. Not only for your first reboot, but anytime in the future if your PRAM is reset. You should read “Trim Enabler and Yosemite” , which explains the risks involved and solutions in case of issues.
