Apple iPhone Sales Better Than Android Smartphones During Holiday Quarter

The shipments of Android Smartphones were lower for the very first time when compared to the shipments of Apple’s iPhone in the holiday quarter.

Apple is very happy with the sales that the iPhone had garnered during the holiday quarter last season. The shipments of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus from Apple were comparatively higher than its close rival Android Smartphones during the last three months of 2014.

The numbers that have been revealed by ABI Research shows that Apple got record shattering sales during the last holiday quarter and this is for the very first time that iPhone sales was able to surpass the sales of Android powered Smartphones.

Apple’s latest Smartphones went on sale in the market at the fag end of the September month. This has helped Apple very much as the latest iPhone sales picked up really well during the holiday buying. The shipments of Apple iPhones were on par with that of the Samsung Smartphones, who is the leader in the Smartphone market all across the globe. Apple iPhones have revolutionized latest Technology News and gadget world to great extent.

Strategy Analytics said that both the companies accounted for 20% of the market during the holiday selling quarter period. They say that more than 1 billion Android based Smartphones units were shipped in 2014.

In the fourth quarter, which is the holiday season quarter, Apple shipped as many as 74.5 million iPhones, a 90% increase than what it had shipped in the last holiday quarter. The shipments of Android based Smartphones during the same period this year have seen a slide of 5 percent and the total sales stands at 205.56 million units.

The forked Android, where Android Smartphone makers given the opportunity of making variations to the Android OS, did not go well with the Smartphone consumers and this might have resulted in the lower sales of Android Smartphones this time. It looks like Apple’s is getting far more customer patronage than the Android offered by Google these days.

There is no doubt that there is a paradigm shift in the minds of the people who are looking to buy high end Smartphones these days. They are looking at Apple’s iPhone instead of popular Google Android powered Smartphones.

The poor performance by Android Smartphones is going for other service providers and operating systems. Windows Phone mobile operating system from Microsoft has also shown a 19 percent sales growth of its phones this holiday quarter, when compared to sales that it showed during the third quarter.
