In the new 1.5 version of its Actual File Folders utility Actual Tools offers a simple “out of the box” solution for quick unified access from any program to the Downloads folder of web browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer) and the folder for files received through Skype.

Many Windows users who download files in Chrome, Firefox or Internet Explorer, or receive files via Skype, have repeatedly faced the need to find the location where the downloaded files have been saved. This need arises not just to open the downloaded file in a default program, but to move it to another folder and/or open it in a program other than the default (for example, open a photo in a photo editor rather than a viewer).

To address this and many other problems, Actual Tools developed the Actual File Folders utility, which allows you to create a list of shortcuts to frequently used folders. This list is available via the additional Favorite Folders button that the utility adds to the title bar of each file handling window. When you select any shortcut from the list, instant transition to the appropriate folder occurs. The button works the same way in any file handling window, whether it is Windows Explorer, Open/Save dialogs in any application, or popular Total Commander or Directory Opus file managers. Thus, the user gets simple, fast and consistent access to frequently used folders.

In the new version, the shortcuts to folders used by Skype and web browsers to save downloaded files have been added to the Favorite Folders list by default. This provides “out of the box” unified access to downloaded files from any program in a couple of clicks, immediately after installing Actual File Folders.

In addition to Favorite Folders, the utility provides a Recent Folders function: an automatically populated list of shortcuts to recently visited folders, available the same way via the additional Recent Folders title bar button. Both functions make moving between folders similar to web browsing (Favorite Folders – browser bookmarks, Recent Folders – browsing history), which provides a simple, understandable and complete solution for fast navigation through the Windows file system.
