Check Out What Intel Are Calling The World’s First Wire-Free Laptop!
Earlier this year Intel caused a lot of buzz and excitement when they revealed they were interested in building a wire-free laptop, which would be able to connect to peripherals without cables and wirelessly charge. Well, now Intel has gone on step further and created a full-fledged prototype, which is an amazing technological advancement in computing. The prototype laptop has the ability to charge wirelessly and connect to peripherals without cables, with the idea behind it is it frees users from carrying a bulky power adapter, since the laptop recharges after being placed on a wireless charging table or surface.
Along with this the prototype is also able to connect wirelessly to external displays through something called Wi-DI which means wireless display technology, which could possibly eliminate HDMI and Display ports. Furthermore, Intel is also looking to link laptops to peripherals like external storage devices through the emerging Wi-Gig technology, which is much faster than Wi-Fi with data transfer speeds of 7G bits per second, an incredibly quick speed.
The whole idea of a wire-free laptop isn’t a new one, in fact Intel previously mentioned things about wireless laptops last year, but now Intel has gone full speed ahead and created an amazing prototype. Furthermore, while showing off the laptop Kirk Skaugen of Intel said with a lot of enthusiasm said it would be the world’s first PC where you’d never need to connect a wire to it and would be an important update and step in computing technology. The only negative to come out was at the moment the laptop is only going to be shipped to software developers that will write applications that take advantage of the wire-free features, so the public may have to wait a while for it to be released.
The major plus to come out of the announcement of the prototype was that several laptop makers were on board and supporting Intel’s vision of wire-free computers, for instance Lenovo wants to bring such features to its business laptops. What’s key to Intel for wire free laptops is partnerships with other companies because at the moment wire-free technology isn’t practical today, as wireless peripherals aren’t available and wireless charging surfaces haven’t been installed in restaurants and other spaces. But while there is a long way yet to go for the technology the future does seem like one with without cables, which is definitely great to hear.
