The resulting tightly integrated overlay uses web caching, server-load balancing, request routing, and content services.
Importance and Types of nodes

- Storage nodes – the main purpose of this node is to provide the data to cache. These nodes are distributed through a hierarchical model that protects the origin of servers.
- Origin nodes – this is the main source of content and it is located inside the operator’s network to give resilience and scale multiple origins.
- Control node – purpose of this is to provide management, monitoring as well as routing to CDN’s component. It is also known as a very typical integration point for any BSS/OSS system.
