Typically, a prospective electronic engineer must earn at least a bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering. After you’ve worked for four years in the field, you will be eligible to sit for the Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) exam, which can significantly widen your field of job opportunities. Electrical engineers will be given the opportunity to sit the electrical and electronics version of the PE, which covers a range of topics including digital devices, communications, and electronics. This is typically the last step that you must take in order to become a licensed electrical engineer.
